Pol Vandenbroucke Receives Recognition from the Hispanic Community December 17, 2009
Recently, Dr. Pol Vandenbroucke, Vice President of Development, received the Hispanic Achievers Award from the National Hispanic Corporate Achievers (NHCA). NHCA provides corporations with the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of their top Hispanic employees. It is a great honor for a non-born Hispanic to receive this award in recognition of their work in creating a consciousness of equality for Hispanics within the corporate structure.
Pol was nominated by members of his team to receive the award. “Pol has always shown understanding and respect and inclusion which makes working with him not only a career opportunity but also a huge culture learning experience,” said Lobna Salem, Senior Director of Established Products. Drew Lewis, Senior Director Specialty & Infectious Diseases, provided an example of Pol’s work in the Hispanic community with Chagas Disease, a disease that disproportionately affects Hispanics. “An example is his efforts to advance the science of diagnosis and treatment through partnerships with Latin American academics, research institutions and Ministries of Health. The result of these efforts will no doubt enhance the health of many people of Hispanic origin in the U.S. and around the world,“ said Drew.
Pol has a long legacy of his work in and for the Hispanic community. Most recently, he was elected as one of the chairs for the Pfizer Latino Leadership Council, a group of senior leaders of the Latino community in Pfizer. Over the years, he has mentored many Latinos and Latin Americans to see them prosper and advance within the company. Pol embodies all of the Pfizer values, of which ‘respect for people’ is the most salient. We congratulate Pol on this great honor.
Juan Ramon Alaix, President of Pfizer Animal Health, and Natale Ricciardi, Senior Vice President of Pfizer Global Manufacturing were also honored at this event.
